Mulderrigs to Sponsor Rossendale Triathlon 2023

As the Rossendale Triathlon is set to take place on the 21st of May this year, we look forward to sponsoring yet another great event. Mulderrigs (now part of the Farleys’ family) have been proud sponsors of the Rossendale Triathlon many times over the last decade and are once again delighted to be backing an event which brings lots of people to the Rossendale area.

The Rossendale Triathlon has established itself as one of the best valued and most enjoyable races in Britain. The race has created a lot of buzz since first commencing almost two decades ago, bringing hundreds of budding triathletes to tackle the picturesque course.

The course starts in the heart of the Lancashire Pennines with a 400m pool swim, in the beautiful Marl Pits Leisure Centre based in Rawtenstall. It then jumps right into a stunning 21km bike ride, with some tricky ascents, including the bumpy ‘Crown Point Roller Coaster’ for those who like to challenge themselves. This is followed by a scenic 9km descent back into Rossendale, where triathletes can warm up for their 5km run. The run is a mixture of trail and road. If your legs aren’t hurting yet, they certainly will be after this section. Push all the way through to the end and you’ll find yourself at the Marl Pits running track, where triathletes can expect to be met with the roaring of the crowd.

Although it sounds challenging, the Triathlon prides itself on being for all sporting abilities, as they offer a ‘Recce’, which consist of shorter versions of the course, spread out throughout the day.

One person helping make this inspiring race accessible to all is our own Paul Mulderrig. Alongside sponsoring the event over many years through the charity which he founded, The Rossendale Rays Special Needs Sports Club, he set up inflatable start and finish arches on the running course, for the kids in the sports club, so that they can have a crack at the race too.

Paul says:

“It’s always been a great pleasure to sponsor the Rossendale Triathlon. They have some great local athletes, and their event attracts visitors from all over the north. The Triathlon Club is a credit to Rossendale and they recently worked very closely with my own special needs sports club Rossendale Rays on a successful campaign to raise £250,000 to fund a new running track in Rossendale. Good luck to everyone taking part in 2023”
