Eye Surgery Medical Negligence – 14K Settlement

Mrs Carlton came to Mulderrigs with a case of eye surgery medical negligence.

She is an elderly lady and needed cataract surgery on both eyes.

The first operation went well, but there was a problem when the second operation a couple of weeks later.

The surgeon broke the new lens as he tried to fit it.

Mrs Carlton was left with double vision and a drooping eyelid.

Joanne Smith took on the claim against the negligent surgeon.

We agreed to act on “no win no fee” terms.

An expert provided a report to say that the surgeon had not carried out the surgery properly.

The insurers for the surgeon denied any responsibility for the damage to our client’s eye.

So we brought court proceedings on her behalf.

But the insurers then agreed to negotiate with us.

As a result of those negotiations Mrs Carlton received £14,000 in compensation.
