Horse riding accidents

When things go well, horse riding can be great fun. But when things go wrong, the consequences can be very serious.

Equestrian centres and riding stables have a legal duty to make sure that they take care for the safety of their customers, and especially young or inexperienced riders.

Horse riding accidents occur for lots of reasons, but in our experience the most common causes are that a rider is allowed out on an unsuitable horse, or because a ride isn't properly supervised, or because the stables are just plain badly organised and dangerous.

We have succesfully handled lots of these cases for our clients over the last twenty years.

Miss Greenalgh was a young schoolgirl who suffered a nasty kick in the face from a horse at a riding stables in Lancashire. The horse was known to be unpredicatable and the stable owners should have taken more care to protect our young client. We took on the case against the stables and helped our client recover over £8,000.00 in compensation.

Miss Halpern is a young lady who suffered a badly broken arm when she fell from a horse whilst out on an organised horse ride at a riding stables in Cornwall. The stables initially denied responsibility for the accident, but our investigations revealed that the horse was known to be dangerous and our client should not have been asked to ride it. The insurers have now admitted liability for the accident and we are gathering medical evidence for our client. As it says in the newspapers.....the case continues!

Mrs Tambling was an inexperienced rider who visited an equestrian centre near Blackpool. She was put on a large horse which was clearly unsuitable for her and the horse bolted, threw her to the ground and kicked her. She was initially represented by a "panel" solicitor recommended by her own insurers and they told her she should settle the case on "50-50" terms. Luckily, someone recommended Mulderrigs and within weeks of taking over the case we forced the insurance company to admit liability in full.
